Résumé:

A land of promises, of contrasts between tradition and innovation, an example of a new social model based on the concept of human community, the African continent, the protagonist of the exhibition at the MAXXI from 22 June to 4 November 2018, is analysed from an innovative point of view that leads to questioning the visitor on his knowledge of the place and its vitality beyond stereotypes. The MAXXI, within the study path on the interaction between Europe and the Mediterranean areas, presents itself as an open window on scenarios of dialogue between different cultures: in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the museum hosts the works and site-specific projects of 40 artists who tell their continent by investigating it in the dimension of urban space. The volume that accompanies the exhibition is enriched by essays and interviews by international authors such as Marco Scotini, Sumesh Sharma, Edgar Pieterse, Akinbode Akinbiyi, Bonaventure Ndikung. The specially commissioned texts address diverse themes ranging from art to architecture, from geopolitics to the difficult process of urbanization.00Exhibition: MaXXi, Rome, Italy (22.06-04.11.2018).
