Résumé:

At the time of its production, "Ingenius" was advertised as surpassing all other such construction kits in the possibilities it offered for expression, free creative design and artistic effect.
The toy's accompanying literature, in English, French and German, was edited by its probable designers, architects Wilhelm Heinrich Kreis and C.A. Juengst. They describe the set as both a toy for children and "a modelling box for architects and engineers", among its many other stated functions. While Ingenius "Baby" includes 233 fine beechwood pieces, the "New City" set contained 3000 of these components and could be used for constructions up to 12 feet in height. According to the literature, the sizes of the pieces were determined on the basis of mathematical laws, and the shapes according to the "laws of the architectural and engineering art and of other artistic professions."
