A treatise of the five orders of columns in architecture, Tuscan, Doric, Ionic, Corinthian and composite : wherein the proportions and characters of the members of their several pedestals, columns and entablatures, are distinctly consider'd with respect to the practice of the antients and moderns. Also a most natural, easie and practicable method laid down for determining the most minute part in all the oders, without a fraction. To which is annex'd a Discource concerning pilasters: and of several abuses introduced into architecture. Engraven on six folio plates of several orders, adorn'd with twenty-four borders, as many initial letters, and a like number of tail-pieces / by John Sturt. Written in French by Claude Perrault, of the Royal academy of Paris, author of celebrated commen on Vitruvius. Made English by John James of Greenwich.
