Résumé:
Associates since 1987, the Austrian architects Florian Riegler and Roger Riewe, with their professional practice in Graz and Cologne, tackle their projects in a subtle and practical way, renouncing formal authorship as the motor of the design process. Their buildings respond to the environment and to the cultural baggage of society without wishing to offer the spectator a stunning form with pre-existing symbolic meanings. Quite the opposite, in fact: Riegler Riewe’s buildings reveal themselves to be places in which the user has a highly active role in the definition and perception of the spaces. This number of the magazine 2G demonstrates how their planning strategies enable them to readily tackle buildings of an ever-increasing size and complexity, from transport infrastructures such as the rail stations in Innsbruck and Vienna or the airports in Graz and Hamburg, taking in educational buildings like the Computer and Electronics Institutes of the University of Graz, complex residential projects and the football stadium in Cologne.

Résumé:
Several Italian architects have recently taken up the technique of collage again to present their ideas. The three masters of this tendency are Carmelo Baglivo, Luca Galofaro and Beniamino Servino, while the younger generation includes authors such as Davide Trabucco and robocoop. If collage has been one of the favorite techniques in Italian architecture since the nineteen sixties, the current collagists are new in ways that relate to developments in digital technology. They use software like Photoshop to create their images, recur to social media like Facebook to post their work and they can refer to the whole history of architectural and non-architectural imagery, which is instantly accessible on the Web. Their collages can be visual comments as well as daring fantasies. The book presents a rich selection of images and original texts dedicated to this phenomenon.

Résumé:
The model room of Olafur Eliasson is a cabinet of studies, which exists both as a spatial structure and a viewing platform for dozens of intricately constructed models of various scales, developed together with Einar Thorsteinn, a architect and artist. The preparatory level – or ground work – is in general crucial to Eliasson's practice; he conceives his works basically as machines that produce phenomena through their interaction with the visitors. The machines are composed of multiple elements and often involve material and knowledge gained from fields other than art. Olafur Eliasson therefore collaborates with scientists occupied with cognitive and visual matters, with architects, and others.
