Résumé:
This publication provides a survey of the working methods and results achieved by one of the most influential European product designers. Morrison’s name is not associated with spectacular consumer design products. In fact he represents an approach that many designers return to: simple and durable form, functional and true to its material. Here Morrison has developed an unmistakable and excitingly modern formal language that is used by manufactures including FSB, Vitra, Cappellini, and Flos. In additon to domestic product design, Morrison developed a new design for the Hanover municipal rail system for Expo 2000. Previously priced at $87.95.

Résumé:
Barragan's 1,250-acre Gardens of El Pedregal subdivision, begun in 1945 on the lava fields south of Mexico City, were dotted with houses and plazas, fountains and ponds, cacti and pepper trees. He considered El Pedregal his most important project, and critics have described the houses and gardens there as a turning point in Mexican modern architecture. This book examines El Pedregal's programme and form, its representation in architect-commissioned photographs and advertising, and its place within contemporary discourses on cultural identity, design and place, and suburbanisation. It offers an in-depth analysis of this project through original documents, drawings, photographs, and critical examinations of the design and marketing processes.

Résumé:
This book brings together visions of utopia from around the world, from the lowly caravan to grand city plans, and looks at the ideas and aims of the people who created them. For some, the possibilities offered by a technologically advanced future have led to the design of vast megastructures such as Arata Isozaki’s ‘Clusters in the Air’. Others have attempted to combine innovation and tradition in "planned communities" like the picture-perfect Seaside, in Florida. Some are motivated by money or politics, others by faith or philanthropy, like the factory owners who built houses and schools for their workers in suburban Britain. All share a conviction that a better world is not impossible. "Impossible Worlds" features historical essays, case studies and new photography, as well as contributions by artists, philosophers and architects.

Résumé:
In the late nineteenth century, Chicago - the birthplace of modern architecture in the United States - was a magnet for aspiring architects. The city was forced to rebuild after the destruction wrought by the Great Fire of 1871 and also to expand to accommodate a surge in the population. The seemingly endless demand for taller and more sophisticated buildings offered young draftsmen an unprecedented opportunity to influence the design of the American skyscraper. "The Chicago Architecture Club : Prelude to the Modern" documents the history of these draughtsmen, the organization they founded, and its role in shaping architectural education and modern architectural practice. Founded in 1885, when architecture was an emerging profession and formal architectural education was in its infancy, the club provided a setting where aspiring draftsmen could develop their skills by creating a professional network and participating in a lively program of lectures, design competitions, and social events. Wilbert R. Hasbrouck documents the personalities and politics of this impressive group, offering an in-depth look at the lesser-known men often largely responsible for the designs credited to their more famous employers. This volume includes hundreds of drawings and photographs. Epilogue by Stanley Tigerman.

Photography and reality are inextricably linked but, whether one is being photographed, making a photograph, or looking at a photograph, photography is an act of the imagination. Drawing on the twenty-nine exhibitions of Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal 2005, Image & Imagination features the work of sixty contemporary artists from Canada, Australia, the United States, France, England, Haiti, and Japan, including Marc Audette, Iain Baxter, Diane Borsato, Denis Farley, Alain Bublex, Michel Campeau, Destiny Deacon, Evergon, Adad Hannah, David Hlynsky, Tracey Moffatt, Shana and Robert ParkeHarrison, Lynne Marsh, Polixeni Papapetrou, Martin Parr, Ramona Ramlochand, Carolee Schneemann, Michael Snow, and Hulleah J.
