Description:
The Grebbeberg National Army Memorial was designed as a commemoration to the soldiers who lost their lives in the battle at Grebbeberg in 1940 during the Second World War. During the German occupation, the mayor of Rhenen Bosch van Rosenthal, organized a secret collection of bronze cents and used part of this collection to fund the memorial. The Grebbeberg National Army Memorial Foundation commissioned Oud for its design in 1947. The bronze coins were also melted down to create the bell for the monument that was completed by Dutch foundries in 1953. The war memorial project resulted in modification of the Grebbeberg cemetery and the design of a new monument. Oud designed a monument with a central cross flanked by two stone lions on an inscribed pedestal. At the other end of the memorial, segmented walls surrounded a raised amphitheatre for speeches and commemorations. The centre held the tower and the bronze bell. Modification of the cemetery began in 1949. Construction for the memorial started in 1952 and its official dedication was held in May 1953 (Taverne et al. 2001, 453-456). Project series includes plans and sections for the bell tower and monument.

Description:
The project series documents Melvin Charney's work for the design competition for the Royal Canadian Air Force Memorial (RCAF) at the National Air Force Museum of Canada in Ottawa, Ontario. The project was identified by Charney as the MEMO Series. The competition called for the design of a building of “appropriate character” which would commemorate “the birth and growth of Canadian aviation”. The competition program was very specific, requesting a building on a predefined site, with rooms designed for specific activities. MEMO was formally submitted by Charney and consisted of 91 pages of plans, designs, photographs and instructions on 335-5136 metric graph paper. Instead of constituting a true design for a building, MEMO consists of pages of memorandums intended for the organizers of the competition. The memos describe different ideas of how to conceptualize “the birth and growth of Canadian aviation”, as a critical response to what Charney saw as a “narrowness” in the competition’s vision. Charney referred to the idea of erecting a “singular building in an isolated part of the country” and considering it a memorial as being a “restrictive if not repressive act”. Description:
Project series documents Cornelia Hahn Oberlander's landscape project for the Jim Everett Memorial Park, a neighbourhood park situated between Dalhousie Road, Allison Road and University Boulevard, in the University Endowment Lands (UEL) community land, in Vancouver. Oberlander worked on this project from 2000-2001. The UEL is a unincorporated community located between the City of Vancouver and the University of British Columbia. The park was planned as a recreation space for young families and children living in the University Village, a new village complex of UEL. The plants were also selected to provide interest through out the seasons with varying vegetation and flowers, and ensures low maintenance. The project series includes design development drawings and working drawings, including landscape and planting plans, presentation panels, and a presentation model. The series includes also photographs of the park during construction and once completed. The project is also documented through correspondence with clients and consultants, a project proposal by Oberlander, specifications and a contractor tender, concept notes, documentation for research, meetings notes, inspection reports and financial documents. Description:
The director of the De Nederlanden van 1845 insurance company, J.G.H. Sauveplanne, commissioned Oud with the design of a memorial for The Hague to celebrate the company's 100-year founding. The planned commemoration was kept secret as a surprise to the inhabitants and ultimately its construction was interrupted by the advent of the Second World War. Oud created a design in 1944, which was then altered to propose the creation of a Memorial in Meer en Bosch Park. His revised plan consisted of a central pillar located at the meeting point of the park's six footpaths. The central pillar is also decorated with groups of sculptures and inscription outlining the history of The Hague (Taverne et al. 2001, 451-452). Project series includes plans and sketches of the memorial.
