Sub-series consists primarily of correspondence between Anne Alpert and her family, friends, husbands and lovers (Roberto Matta, Isamu Noguchi, Hollis Alpert, and James Astor), and children Gordon Matta-Clark and John Sebastian Matta. In some instances, both the letters that she sent as well as the letters she received are preserved; in particular, both sides of the correspondence with Isamu Noguchi have been reunited and reassembled. The material dates from 1914 to 1997.

Sub-series contains ring binders and textual records, including newspaper and magazine clippings and memorabilia.

    Description:

    Binder documents the life of Anna Louise Clark (later Anne Alpert) from her early life in Illinois, her years in France (1937-1939), New York City, New York (1939-1945), and Chile (1945-1946). It includes correspondence about the birth of her twin sons, Gordon Matta-Clark and John Sebastian Matta, her affair with Isamu Noguchi, and her efforts to get a fair settlement in her divorce from her first husband Roberto Matta. Binder contains photographs and textual records.

    Description:

    Binder documents the birth and life of Gordon Matta-Clark and John Sebastian Matta, the twin sons of Roberto Matta and Anna Matta (later Anne Alpert), through correspondence, photographs and memorabilia dating from 1943 to 1965. The majority of the letters are addressed to "Anna Louise Matta" at her home in New York City, New York. Included are the children's birth certificates, school reports, letters from camp, letters that Matta-Clark wrote while a student at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and letters that his brother John Sebastian Matta wrote while living in Europe. Also included are letters from Roberto Matta addressed to his former wife and his sons. Binder contains photographs and textual records.

    Binder documents correspondence addressed to Anne Alpert in New York City, New York and at her summer house in Sag Harbor, New York, along with memorabilia and photographs from the mid-1970s to the end of her life in 1997. Included are the letters of condolences following the deaths of her two sons, John Sebastian Matta, who died in 1976, and Gordon Matta-Clark, who died in 1978. Also documented is Alpert's ongoing relationship with members of the Matta family, including Roberto Matta, Malitte Matta and their daughter Federica.
