Description:
The project series documents "Ombra", an installation presented for the first time at the Expo Arte of Galleria Speciale, in Bari, in 1986. It consists of an overcoat with flexible elements inserted in the lining of the fabric that form a structure to either create a seat for the wearer to sit on it or to stand on its own, if not worn. "So the multiplicity of roles, functions and subjects gives rise to an ambiguity, and a source of anxiety for he who, having conceived, made and “inhabited” it, perceives its more disquieting implications, those of an anomalous shadow, of another self that exists even in our absence." [1] The project series contains a sketch, photographs of the installation at the Galleria Speciale in 1986, a montage of film stills from Pettena's video explaining the installation, and digital versions of the installation film. Description:
This project file documents unbuilt designs by Testa & Weiser for Strand Tower (2006), a continuation of the Carbon Tower research project. Various iterations of Strand Tower are woven out of carbon fibre according to a pattern algorithmically generated by the Weaver software. “The complexity of the final design is produced by arraying a basic fiber bundle of 114 strands; stacked 70 times for a total of approximately 8,000 strands.”[1] The file contains a large number of digital files which document the conceptual and design development of the project, fabrication of 3D printed physical models, and exhibition of the project at several museums and galleries, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. The file also includes six physical models produced by the 3D printing firm 3D Systems. Sources: [1] "Strand Tower project and credit text" (AP174.S1.2006.D2.007). Description:
The series contains drawings for Peter Yeadon's architectural narrative for the Prix de Rome entitled "Karl: An Architerctural Narrative." In total eleven sets of digital prints were made, each set contains eighteen sheets. Canadian Centre for Architecture received the third of these eleven sets, which is included in this series. The narrative depicts the experience of a Canadian emigrant becoming a Roman citizen. The drawings represent the following titles: City; Fabric House; Columbarium; Horizon House; House City; Depth House; Colosseum for Vanishing Curiosities; City Gate; Teatro de Tevere; Neptune House; Bath; and Bricolage House. Each drawing is signed by the architect. Also included, are four sketchbooks for 'Karl: An Architerctural Narrative', two print proofs for Bricolage House, and project documentation. The documentation explains each of the titles in the narrative, Yeadon's curriculum vitae, and leaflets for the exhibition "Karl: an architectural narrative" held at the Art Gallery of Windsor, Ontario from August 2001 to January 2002.

Description:
This project series documents a proposal for a sports complex in Odawara, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. The proposal was submitted in the context of a competition sponsored by the municipality of Odawara. The office of Shoei Yoh was a finalist in the competition. The design called for multiple athletic facilities in a 3-storey structure with a roof that adapts to different uses of the space and to different external conditions and forces. In order to achieve this adaptability, computer simulations were executed to determine the appropriate dimensions for each element in a grid of 3-dimensional trusses. The project series consists chiefly of printouts or photocopies of presentation and design development drawings. Also included are wireframe sections and perspective views from roof deformation simulations. There are also some printouts of computer renderings of the roof structure. Digital files include still images of the roof and building in .jpg format. There are also some transparencies and textual records. The content of this file was created between 1990 and 1991.

Description:
The project series documents the digitally created installation "Mother Nature" by Pettena in 2011. The project consists of a photograph of a rock formation on the edge of the water which was digitally modified to include a human figure nested in. "What is presented here in an almost didactic manner, by inserting a human figure into a setting prepared by nature, is the natural imbalance between the former and the infinite potentialities of the environment, which can only be known in part by someone who, accepting this situation of inferiority, makes use of it to acquire the capacity for a more conscious observation." The project series documents the digitally created performance "Antologico… Enciclopedico" by Pettena in 2012. The project consists of a photograph of bookshelves which was digitally modified to include an image of Pettena to give the illusion that he is laying amongst the books. "An ironical statement made by the artist who, being more than seventy years old, has by now been the object of a long and progressive phenomenology of quotations and inspirations of critics, architects and contemporary artists. This is usually what happens with masters who, more or less, are no longer acting on the stage." [1] The project series contains two sketches and photographs of the performance. Description:
The project series documents Abalos & Herreros’ competition entry organised by the Cabinet of Andalucia for the underground in Málaga, Spain. The firm identified this project as number 172. “The stations are the masterpieces of the interaction between the peasant and the new infrastructure. […] A diversity of additive materials – combinations opaque or luminous, translucent or transparent, vegetal or aerial – make of [Abalos & Herreros’] proposal an elaborate sting operation that can adaptate [sic] to every imaginable circumstances looking for an agreement of highest coincidence between underground stations and the surface. The building and finishing coincidence between underground stations and the surface. The building and finishing system not only pretends [sic] an unitary image for all the underground web, but also constitutes itself an orientation code, an indicator for movement, a locator of accesses and a resource of orientation in town.” (ARCH270975). The firm worked with Mike Schlaich and Schlaich Bergermann und Partner (Stuttgart). Documenting the project are conceptual drawings, correspondence, specifications, cartographic and digital materials.

Project series documents Cornelia Hahn Oberlander's project for the green roof of the Wong Residence on Quadra Island, off the eastern cost of Vancouver, in the Strait of Georgia. Oberlander worked in this project in the second half of the 2000s. The residence was built in a thick and old-growth forest and "Oberlander designed the rooftop landscape as an experimental extansion of this forest system" [1] The project consists in a three landscaped roofs, with a bridge linking a larger platform to two smaller roofs by a glass bridge. The project series contains correspondence, including correspondence with client, contractors and suppliers, project descriptions and digital photographs of the plant selection and planting work. The project is also documents through studies and sketches, such as sun movements studies and preliminary landscape sketches, and also roof plans used as reference. Source: [1] Herrington, Susan. Description:
This project subseries documents the Piscina Pública in Pedras Salgadas, Portugal. While the records were held in the office’s archives this project was assigned the number 50/00. The office assigned the dates 2008-2010 to this project. This project consisted of two outdoor public pools for the Pedras Salgadas Spa and Nature Park. One large pool was built for adults and a smaller children's pool sat diagonally from it. A small building that contained a bar was also built next to the pools. The project was realized. This project subseries is documented through drawings, photographic materials and textual records dating from 2007-2010. The drawings are mostly printed reprographic copies of CAD drawings, many of which have annotations, showing plans and details. The photographic materials, which are printed digital photos, show the site and construction. The textual records include technical documentation for the water, fire and gas systems, structural and electrical documentation, supplier catalogues, budgets, specifications and correspondence.

Description:
Series 2: Construction documentation, 1997 – 2016, consists of over 5100 born-digital files that relate to the construction and construction documentation phases of the Austrian Hypo Alpe-Adria Center. The majority of the records date from 1999 to 2003. This series relates to construction and largely contains CAD drawings and photographs which demonstrate the progress of the project in the built environment over time. The roughly 3600 drawings in this series include floorplans, detail documentation, as-built drawings, shop drawings, elevations, and site plans. CAD formats represented include PowerCAD, PowerDraw, Microstation, and AutoCAD. There are also approximately 200 3D models and plans completed in Form*Z. These were likely used for renderings and 3D printing. This series also contains a significant number of images, including renderings and photographs of the construction site and physical model. Notably, there are a number of high resolution photographs of the Hypo Alpe-Adria exterior. There is also a small amount of related textual documentation.
